Hello from Peru !

Dear All,

For one reason and another I have found myself at the internet quite a
lot this week because we have lots to sort out as we approach the end
of our time here in Pisco - thought I would therefore drop you all
another little line!

Its been a good and bad week! The work on the site is progressing
well! We've been joined by a group of 6 americans this week which has
been interesting on a number of levels! They are only here for a week
so they have been keen to do as much as possible and so hence have
taken over most of our jobs which we have found a little frustrating
but have tried to be gracious about. Unfortunately the americans
managed to upset the Peruvians because they did not eat their food (
which incidentally is delicious!) and so things have been a little
awkward when the Peruvians come to the building site with beautiful
cakes and don't offer any to the americans! We were all quite amused
by this but also quite happy when the Pastor intervened and told his
35 year old daughter that she must include the americans! The Pastor
is a true inspiration - he is 53 (I think) and works hard on the
building site everyday doing the worst jobs!

The reason it has been a hard week is because Tom and I have had to
consider sending one of the girls home who struggles with an eating
disorder. Dealing with this issue has been tough for quite a long time
but it hit a real low last week. Thank you to those who have already
been praying (Mum said she'd put it on the prayer chain!) I think she
is going to be able to stay but I would value your prayers that she
would maintain a healthy diet between now and our holiday. It is vital
that she be eating reasonably before the holiday because we are going
on a trek. Tom and I have both felt a little out of our depth with
regard to this issue but our supervisor Ruth has been very helpful!

I have been having one to one reviews with the girlies this week which
has been a real joy! It is wonderful to have an opportunity to hear
how they've been growing in their faith and we have been looking at
Phillipians 3 which has been a real encouragement to me! I so enjoy
this part of the job of leader!

I would really appreciate your prayers for continued health and safety
(particularly in travel). We feel so blessed up to now - nothing has
happened which seems so surprising! Praise God! Please pray that this
would carry on for the whole trip!

I am having a wonderful domestic day with two of my team mates! We've
had a lot of fun cooking up lunch and we are now off to play football
with some of our Peruvian friends. On Saturday we will return to the
first project for a day to see how the building work has progressed.

With lots of love to you all!
